You’ve turned your business data into a beautiful visualization on a map, so why keep it to yourself?
With eSpatial it’s easy to share your mapping masterpieces with both publicly with the world and privately with colleagues. The map you share is your completed work, there are a number of ways that you can decide what someone sees when you share maps. For example, on a single eSpatial map you can filter data in a variety of ways, or turn ON and OFF selected layers. This allows you to highlight different parts of the data to the people you are sharing with. But why exactly should you share your maps online? Below are just some of the reasons:
1. It’s as easy as copying and pasting
Most of your time will have gone into creating the map. Sharing is the easy part. You can just copy the URL link and forward it to whomever you want, via email, or social media. Alternatively, you can copy and past the Embed code to incorporate your map onto your website. All anyone has to do is simply select the link and they’ll have instant access to your completed map.
2. It can be accessed anywhere, by anyone, at anytime
One of the best things about cloud mapping software like eSpatial, is the ability to is that anyone can access it from anywhere. Unlike local solutions, there’s no need to download any software to view your map, They don’t even need an eSpatial account if it’s shared publicly, just an internet connection. It’s all self-contained in that link you have sent them.
3. It encourages faster decision-making
We’re all familiar with the term “Let’s go through the figures before we make a decision?” This is the fist step in a long process that involves meetings, explanations, and negotiations as interested parties try to figure out the details of a proposal. Sharing a map, plotted with key data – for instance, where you would like to expand a business, based on location demographics – conveys information and projections instantly, helping to drive quicker decisions.
4. It can increase traffic to your website
When you publish a map with eSpatial, you get the option to make it searchable on internet search engines. If you choose to make it searchable, that means – if its interesting enough and covers a subject with wide appeal – then it could become a source of traffic to your website.

So how exactly do you share a map?
Click on the share symbol in the Control Panel highlighted in the image below:
From there, you will be presented with the below window, giving you different options to share your map either publicly or privately. You can also tick to hide it from search engines (meaning it won’t show much in Google searches, etc). For now, we are going to select Share publicly:
Finally you’ll be presented with a link that can be copied and shared. Alternatively, you can also embed the map directly onto a web page with the code on the right-hand side. Finally, you can show off your map directly through social media with the buttons at the bottom:
