You have great data and you want to visualize it. The best way to do this is to create a pin map. But your boss wants to see something before close of business, and you’re no mapping expert! Don’t panic…
Assuming you have nice clean data in an Excel spreadsheet (find out how to prepare data for upload to eSpatial here), let’s do some speed mapping and create a pin map.
Start the clock…
- Save your Excel data file as a .xls, .xlsx or .csv (comma delimited) file. Time step 1 takes: 2-10 Seconds
- Sign up for a free eSpatial trial. Time step 2 takes: 30 seconds
- Click Upload Data on the top of the eSpatial homepage, add your file and then click Complete Now. The length of time this takes depends on the quality & volume of data and, of course, the speed of your internet connection. I’m using a sample 400-point dataset (Download here). Time step 3 takes: 1 minute, 30 seconds
- When the upload is 100% complete (and assuming no errors), click Map My Data. And that’s it – you’ve created a map. Time step 4 takes: 15 seconds
