In an earlier blog, written last year, I explained there was plenty of free location data available, if you knew where to look. Since then, our data team has expanded the datasets built in and ready to use in eSpatial.
Why use eSpatial datasets?
In truth, much of the data we make available to customers can be sourced elsewhere – if you have the time, that is. However, in order to use it in eSpatial – or (heaven forbid!) any other mapping software – it would have to be formatted correctly (and in a logical order that suits your specific needs). We’ve done that already – so you don’t have to.
What datasets are available?
There are currently over a hundreds datasets in our dataset library and it’s being added to all the time. US census data is particularly popular, but we also have datasets from other parts of the world, with an extensive collection of UK datasets. Wherever your business is located, there’s a good chance that we have useful data for it.
How can I access my free eSpatial datasets?
When you sign up for an eSpatial account, you will find datasets pre-loaded into your library. These datasets are included based on your default location. If you want to access other datasets – which our customer success team will load into your library – you will have to be on a paid eSpatial account.
However, you can sample your data with some of our existing data when on a free account. Just contact our support team, and they would be happy to give you a no-commitment demonstration.
