| iSMART 5.4, the most advanced Web 2.0 GIS Software Product suite available on the market today. |
iSmart Xtra for Smallworld from eSpatial, available as an optional add-on to the iSmart V.5 suite, provides existing customers and users of the industry leading GE Smallworld system with an innovative technology solution which can deliver immediate cost savings and improvements in operational efficiency.
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld provides a standard based rapidly deployed environment for scalable and secure multi-user publishing and editing of Smallworld data across the enterprise using Oracle Spatial. It enables enterprises to leverage their existing Smallworld infrastructure, and coexist within an Oracle Enterprise environment without losing important features of their applications.
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld is a technology solution suite that allows valuable information and data stored within the Smallworld GIS system to be fully integrated within the Enterprise providing a single 360o data view and enterprise wide access for enquiry and editing.
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld is fully integrated and compatible with Oracle's Enterprise Architecture and exploits the advantages of Oracle's Spatial database to leverage an organisation's geospatial and spatially referenced data.
Organisations in industries with geographically distributed facilities, plant, equipment and workforces like Utilities and Telecommunications; require advanced solutions capable of managing geospatial information in diverse applications such as CAD and GIS. A unique industry requirement is the ability to view and manage this information from a variety of views or "worlds".
Smallworld is an established leader in providing advanced geospatial management solutions for some of the world's largest Utilities and Telco's. The advanced functionality of the solution in areas such as network management and the capability to cater for multiple views of information with "Worlds" (e.g. Inside Plant & Outside Plant) has been a major factor in building industry and user acceptance.
Successful implementations of Geospatial solutions bring significant organisational benefits to the departments involved. The key to exploiting this fully lies in extending these benefits throughout the enterprise in a cost effective manner.
Geospatial systems such as Smallworld manage and control information on facilities and assets that are at the core of the organisation. For most companies this information impacts on virtually every aspect of their business, yet it is not always easily accessible to key potential users due to issues of technical complexity and cost.
Unlocking the value of an organisation's Smallworld information enterprise wide makes sound business sense but to date this has presented challenges in terms of:
* Ability to share Smallworld data in Industry Standard format
* Specialist technical skills needed
* Cost of allowing access across the enterprise
* Maintaining the integrity of data in "Worlds" for users outside of the Smallworld environment
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld deals directly with these challenges by fully integrating Smallworld data, with full "Worlds" compatibility, into the organisation's Oracle Enterprise Architecture. As a result all enterprise data, including geospatial can be managed and accessed enterprise wide from a single source. Editing, enquiry and even application level integration can be made available to all users both connected and disconnected, on a variety of platforms cost effectively
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld intelligently consolidates all geospatial data from the Smallworld environment into Oracle Spatial, integrates with other business data in Oracle and distributes over the web to intranet and internet users. By ensuring that "Worlds" views and the "look and feel" of the User Interface are maintained, iSMART Xtra for Smallworld provides complete, immediate, and accurate 360 degree access to the organisation's geospatial data consistent with the user experience of Smallworld.
With Smallworld data now available within the Oracle Spatial datastore, the full power and capabilities of iSMART can be exploited. Open standards based Enterprise Architecture provides the capability to:
Extending the availability of key geospatial information throughout the enterprise provides significant benefits in terms of cost savings, higher productivity and better, more streamlined information flow for decision-making, The innovative web based architecture employed in iSMART Xtra for Smallworld can also provide significant savings on software licence and maintenance costs and better return on technology investment by leveraging more features of Oracle's Enterprise Architecture - particularly for scalability and security.
OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld provides the foundation for a single organisational asset data hub.
- Plant, network and customer equipment data can be managed in a single environment.
Using disparate application systems to manage enterprise and spatial data sets result in inconsistencies and inaccuracies in data. Integration within the enterprise ensures all data is up to date, synchronised and accurate.
- Organisations can depend on their geospatial systems to comply with regulatory requirements.
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld provides immediate, automated access to geospatial data across the enterprise for operational decision making - saving time and money.
- Engineering and maintenance teams use a single source of data for work scheduling.
COST SAVINGS
Duplicate Data across the organisation equals duplicated costs. iSMART Xtra for Smallworld provides a single, synchronised data source and eliminates costly manual data management.
- Web based access to data and functionality is provided using iSMART's portal technology, including web based update of core data, iSMART's rapid Web development tools provide for customized web based access.
Less time spent on costly data management and systems integration exercises.
iSMART Xtra for Smallworld is built on open industry standard java technology. This significantly reduces the need for specialist skills and can reduce spend on third party license costs.
- Reports, enquiries and applications can be easily built by both business users and IT staff.
Many existing Oracle customers have already made their investment in Oracle's Enterprise Architecture, including Oracle Spatial. iSMART Xtra for Smallworld leverages this architecture whilst retaining all key Smallworld features such as "Worlds", thus providing a real return on that investment.
- Lower TCO, better ROI and return on capital employed.
Occasional geospatial users can now access their data without the need for third party licenses.
- Web based deployment eliminates the need for costly client software licenses for many users - particularly useful for the mobile, distributed workforce
Existing Smallworld customers can implement iSMART Xtra for Smallworld today and begin to see immediate benefits. iSMART Xtra for Smallworld allows a transitionary approach, complementing existing investments and facilitating a gradual move, as appropriate, towards a single Oracle Enterprise Architecture.
As a new product offering, eSpatial Solutions are promoting a "Proof of Concept" approach to introduce iSMART Xtra for Smallworld? to new and existing customers. For a relatively low investment, customers can evaluate the potential return on investment and build a solid foundation for the future.
Because the solution is fully compliant with the Oracle Enterprise Architecture, and maintains all key features and user interfaces of Smallworld, it is suitable for implementation by your existing technology partners, allowing you to leverage and extend existing partner relationships.
eSpatial Solutions will be delighted to assist you in introducing this innovative solution into your organization. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us and we will endeavor to help in any way we can.
