In-house server deployment specifications

Deployment

eSpatial OnDemand GIS™ will be made available for in-house server deployment shortly. It will support the following environments:

  • Database server
Oracle 11g (R2), or 10g (R2). May use Oracle Spatial option, or Locator.
  • Application server
Supported Enterprise Java application servers: Apache Tomcat v6.0 (with Java 1.6 & Bitronix v1.2), Oracle Weblogic v10.3 (with Java 1.6).
  • Supported operating systems
RedHat Enterprise Linux AS 4 (Intel x86-64), Windows 2003 Server 64 bit (x86-64), Solaris 10 (SPARC).

Multi-tenancy administration

eSpatial OnDemand GIS for in-house server deployment provides services for many customer organisations (tenants) from the same application servers and database. Key additional functions for the installation owner are:

  • Tenant administration: Create and manage tenants.
  • Optional tenant “self-service” registration.
  • Statistics on use and performance, by tenant.
  • Audit log of all user actions, including configuration.
  • Administration of database access.

Hardware requirements

The web application server on which eSpatial OnDemand GIS is installed must have an Intel or compatible x86-64 64-bit CPU architecture, except with the Solaris operating system, which must be on a SPARC server.

Hardware requirements depend on expected user numbers, data sizes, usage patterns etc. eSpatial OnDemand GIS is typically deployed with separate application and database servers. Multiple application servers may be used for scalability and fail-over. Separate web servers may also be deployed.

A typical application server would have 2 X 2+core (2GHz+) 64-bit CPUs, 16GB+ RAM, 20GB+ Disk.

A typical database server would also have RAID 5+ disk array, >100Gb capacity.
