eSpatial integrates with industry players to show web based OGC data management and maintenance as part of major industry Interoperability Demonstration at GITA 2006

April 24: GITA, Tampa Convention Center, Florida, eSpatial booth # 536
eSpatial, a leading Enterprise Geospatial software & technology company is pleased to announce their participation in GITA Annual Conference 29’s opening session Interoperability Demonstration. The interoperability demonstration will take place on Monday 24th April from 1:30-3:00 p.m.

This year’s conference theme—No Barriers: Connected. Responsive. Prepared.—will be staged in a simulated situation in which the 2012 Olympics, instead of being held in London as planned, are in fact held in Tampa, Florida.
eSpatial, along with other leading vendors (Applied Science Associates, Autodesk, Inc., Bentley Systems, Inc., ESRI, IONIC Enterprise, Inc., Intergraph Corporation, Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc., Oracle, Safe Software, Inc., TELUS Geomatics) as well as Tampa officials will cooperate to bring together the required spatial information needed for smooth and secure Olympic Games using live, online open services. The interoperability during the demonstration will be completely real, and the latest technology will be used to present data provided by Tampa officials. Integrated data, products, solutions, and services from the participating companies will show how standards-based, commercial off-the-shelf geospatial software, data, and services can remove the data sharing barriers in the geospatial community.

As part of the demonstration eSpatial’s iSMART Server, which is remotely situated, is used to demonstrate a number of key features including:
· the consumption of OGC Web Mapping Services from a number of external sources;
· digitizing new data to illustrate road closures and areas or impact;
· carry our spatial analysis of impacted infrastructure assets;
· on-the-fly creation of new maps to make analysis results and updated data available to external systems via Web Mapping and Web Feature services.

All this is carried out remotely using a standard web browser.

”It’s great that leading vendors such as eSpatial can contribute to show that true interoperability is possible”, said Conference Chair Greg Buehler, Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc., “Removing barriers in the geospatial community can turn tedious processes that now take days to complete into simple and seamless tasks that take a fraction of the time.”

“eSpatial is proud to be an active participant in this interoperability demonstration”, said Eamon Walsh, eSpatial CTO. “The combined story illustrates how the world of geospatial systems is rapidly moving to use standardisation as the means to deliver integrated business solutions”.
