NEWS: eSpatial Announces OGC Standard Certification for iSMART 5 Product Suite.

iSMART GeoSpatial Suite bundles industry standard OGC components as integral component at no extra cost.

12th October 2005: eSpatial today announced that the iSMART product suite has successfully passed OGC certification testing using the OGC compliance test harness for the Web Mapping Service version 1.1.1.

eSpatial’s iSMART now incorporates OGC bundled components as part of the base product providing Open Standards capabilities at no additional cost within a robust and scalable enterprise environment on the Oracle platform.

Management of OGC Web services is provided using iSMART’s unique web-based data management and configuration utility which allows Oracle, OGC web service and other data to be seamlessly combined for use within an OGC Web Service, or a pure-web or other end user application. Data from Oracle, OGC web services, and other sources can be published through OGC web services (WMS or WFS) within minutes, and data from OGC web services can be published to the web equally easily.

“Supporting Open Standards is critical to our customers and partners” said Philip O’Doherty, eSpatial CEO, “the Open Geospatial Consortium standards are becoming ‘must have’ features in integrated spatial and business systems. eSpatial is an active member of the OGC and we will continue to roll out the most robust and easiest to use OGC implementations as part of our core product”.

"The standards defined by the Open GeoSpatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) are essential for interoperability and extensibility between geospatial and location based services tools and information. As an important and added measure of assurance, the OGC offers technology the opportunity to test and certify their offerings for compliance with Open GIS® specifications.” quotes Sam A. Bacharach, Executive Director Outreach, Open GeoSpatial Consortium, Inc. “We acknowledge eSpatial commitment to OGC standards, interoperability, and their work to attain OGC certified compliance."

“Support for Open GeoSpatial Consortium Standards is driving seamless co-existence with other GIS tools and applications in the enterprise environment”, said Eamon Walsh, eSpatial CTO, “This is also the key enabler of emerging Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI)”.

Further OGC capabilities will be rolled out within iSMART in forthcoming product releases based on customer and partner requirements.
