| Product Feature: | Creating Maps using iSMART |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows how a map can be created using the iSMART GeoPortal administration tools.
A simple web based wizard is provided allowing you to add layers to the map from a number of sources & set a number of map properties. Layers can be created from one or more Oracle databases, external systems that publish WMS data, Oracle MapViewer themes or from customer sources (e.g. live feeds) which are configured within the system. Mapping data includes Vector data stored in Oracle Locator or Spatial, Image or GRID data stored in Oracle GeoRaster, or iSMARTs own Image data – or any formats provided via WMS from other systems (e.g. ESRI, MapInfo, Intergraph, AutoDesk, Bentley etc.) Once created a map can be accessed from any iSMART application or via the GeoPortal or made available to external systems using the iSMART OGC services (WMS or WFS) |
| Notes: | In iSMART 5.3 features are provided to access mapping data from external mapping systems such as Yahoo Maps. |
| Product Feature: | Creating Maps using external WMS servers |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows how a map can be created using the iSMART which includes data from external OGC WMS servers.
Any OGC WMS 1.1.1 compliant server can be accessed from other systems (e.g. ESRI, MapInfo, Intergraph, AutoDesk, Bentley etc.) Once created an iSMART Map is automatically made available as a WMS provided the map data is configured with the appropriate permissions. In this way a composite map can be constructed. |
| Notes: | In iSMART 5.3 features are provided to access mapping data from external mapping systems such as Yahoo Maps. |
| Product Feature: | Pure Web Editing using iSMART |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows the capabilities provided by iSMART to support editing and creation of Geospatal data from a web browser without the need for client code of plug-in controls (ActiveX of Java applet).
This is just one of the ways iSMART provides editing capabilities. A configurable JAVA API is also provided in applet or standalone format for more advanced capabilities. |
| Notes: | In iSMART 5.3 a new pure web based editing capability is provided which extends the capabilities shown in this recording. A separate recording is available to demonstrate the iSMART 5.3 capabilities. |
| Product Feature: | Offline Editing using iSMART Editor |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows the capabilities provided by iSMART Editor to provide editing and creation of Geospatal data when both connected and disconnected from iSMART.
iSMART Editor provides a JAVA API to develop customised editing applications which can be provided within a web page, as a stand alone connected application or as a disconnected application. Changes made when disconnected can be resynchronised when a connection is available. |
| Notes: | iSMART Editor is provided in source code format to allow for the development of customised editing applications.
iSMART mobile provides the same API as iSMART Editor but is separately licensed for offline usage. |
| Product Feature: | Metadata support in iSMART |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows the metadata capabilities provided by iSMART.
ISO compliant metadata may be stored within iSMART and made available for the creation of maps based on metadata search capabilities. Metadata may be configured based on specific application criteria and the ability is provided to “farm” metadata information from Oracle Spatial databases and external WMS servers |
| Notes: | The iSMART capabilities are provided as part of the iSMART GeoPortal Administration capabilities. |
| Product Feature: | Searching in iSMART GeoPortal |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows the various searching capabilities available within the iSMART GeoPortal.
A variety of search criteria are provided including:
|
| Notes: | The search capabilities provided within iSMART GeoPortal provide an example of what can be achieved using iSMART – bespoke applications developed using the iSMART APIs can provide more tailored capabilities. An example of this can be seen in the POI searching illustrated in the US DOD Military HOMEFRONT application (a separate recording is available of this). |
| Product Feature: | Map Styling using iSMART |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows the various styling capabilities available within the iSMART GeoPortal.
iSMART Maps are styled using a series of web based wizards to style individual layers and attributes. Styling features can defined based on zoom level, attribute or feature. Once styled, maps are available for use by any iSMART application |
| Product Feature: | iSMART & MapInfo Coexistence |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows both iSMART and MapInfo accessing the same geospatial data stored in Oracle spatial and sharing the results using OGC Web Mapping Services (WMS).
Any GIS product which can store data in Oracle Spatial can be used in conjunction with iSMART. In addition, any GIS product which supports the WMS standard can serve data to and consume data from iSMART. Similarly, any GIS system can consume data from iSMART’s Web Feature Service. |
| Product Feature: | iSMART & ESRI Coexistence |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | This recording shows both iSMART and ESRI ArcExplorer accessing the same geospatial data stored in Oracle spatial and sharing the results using OGC Web Mapping Services (WMS).
Any GIS product which can store data in Oracle Spatial can be used in conjunction with iSMART. In addition, any GIS product which supports the WMS standard can serve data to and consume data from iSMART. Similarly, any GIS system can consume data from iSMART’s Web Feature Service. |

| Application: | Pilot using Radius Studio to detect and iSMART to correct data errors |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | eSpatial and 1Spatial joint technologies can be combined to provide web based data correction facilities. In this example the Radius Studio product is programmed to detect data errors in some underlying telcoms data. These errors are then listed in the iSMART GeoPortal for an operator to fix. iSMART Editor is then used to correct the errors and finally the date is then rechecked using Radius Studio. |
| Notes: | The attached screen recording was made under 1Spatial’s former company name Laser-Scan. |
| Customer: | 1Spatial : iSMART and Radius Topology Integration to combine pure web digitizing with back end topology checking |
| Application: | Pilot application showing a bespoke iSMART pure web digitizing example incorporating calls to Radius Topology as data is added and updated. |
| Link to Demo Recording: | |
| Description: | eSpatial and 1Spatial joint technologies can be combined to provide web based data correction facilities.
In this example the Radius Topology product is used to carry out topology checks as data is added and edited using an iSMART Pure web application. The underlying BLPU layers have associated triggers which invokes Radius Topology whenever a change or addition is committed to the database. |
| Note: | The attached screen recording was made under 1Spatial’s former company name Laser-Scan. |
